No, this is a wonderful story of a couple who are absolutely determined to get married despite a pandemic, if there ever was.
Isobel and George’s beautiful London micro-wedding took place on September 26, 2020 – between national bans and just a week before wedding restrictions became even stricter. And talk about a stunning wedding dress! This incredible design is exclusive to Miss Bush Bridal, a longtime partner of Love My Dress, whose founder and CEO Emma is one of the best British bridal stylists you will ever meet. She is so brilliant and wonderful on so many levels too – we honestly cannot recommend booking an appointment in this wedding dress and bridal paradise.
After several postponements – a consequence of the pandemic – the couple eventually exchanged vows at St. John’s Church in Hyde Park and celebrated their union with a reception at the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall.

“We rescheduled our wedding four times and I can safely say that it was one of the most stressful and miserable experiences of my life – I’ve reached the stage where I longed for it to be over!”
“George and I firmly believed we didn’t want to reschedule our wedding until 2021, but that involved a slew of juggling dates in line with ever-changing government updates.”
“When the government announced a week before the wedding that the wedding receptions had been reduced from 30 to 15 guests; We have decided that we can no longer sacrifice our day. That’s why we called all of our guests and suppliers and brought the whole thing forward by a week. “
“I was wearing a pair of beautiful Tiffany pearl earrings that George had bought me as a wedding present. They were very simple and tied my pearl look together. “
“I started my own stationery store, Paper Maven, in the first lockdown after I was fired from my hospitality job. I created all of my wedding stationery using the same color palette as the flowers to tie the whole theme together. “
“I wore the Jesus Peiro Pearl Anniversary dress, which was made especially for Miss Bush. It was the first and only clothing store I went to.”
“I absolutely loved their clothing line and Emma was so in tune with my tastes. I canceled all of my other dress appointments as soon as I stepped out of the chapel. Miss Bush was the only place for me! “
This very special dress cannot be ordered anywhere else. The dress was designed on the occasion of Miss Bush’s 30th birthday in 2018 and features a simple, elegant top with long sleeves and a fitted cummerbund waist. This sits over a full, romantic skirt with pleats and pockets. The dress is adorned with delicate hand-sewn pearl details on the sleeves for a timeless, romantic finish. Emma Marshall, Miss Bush
“Across Covid, the Miss Bush team have been so helpful and courteous, and I found the faucets to be an extra source of comfort over the lockdown as they were a reminder that the wedding was going to happen someday.”
“I’ve always dreamed of having a long-sleeved wedding dress. The Pearl Anniversary dress was the first dress I saw hanging when I walked into Miss Bush, and when I saw it on the hanger I wasn’t 100% convinced of it. “
“I thought I wanted a Kate Middleton-style lace top and I was worried that the pearls would look a little fussy. Emma suggested trying it on as a starting point first and I knew immediately that I had found my dress. “
“I loved every single detail: the lower back, the boat neckline, the train, and most importantly the pearl sleeves (can’t believe I was ever unsure!)”
“I combined my dress with a beautiful matching pearl veil by Jesus Peiro that really holds the whole look together.”
“Unfortunately, our original florist couldn’t recommend our new date enough to recommend Joanne Truby, who did the most incredible job creating my dream wedding flowers.”
“I was keen on a soft, romantic feel with a light color palette of white, blush, and dark pinks with flowers like garden roses, cosmos, and pale pink snowberries.”
“I think Joanne was having the toughest job of a supplier when I called her on Tuesday and said we were moving the wedding to this Saturday! But even within three days she created the most beautiful flowers, and I am infinitely grateful for her help. “
“My dad drove me to church in his vintage green Austin Somerset (his absolute pride and joy!), Which also went perfectly with the bridesmaid’s dresses, which was a very lucky coincidence!”
“We then hired a Routemaster bus from Red Bus Events to take guests from St. John’s to the RAC.”
The couple’s ceremony took place at St. John’s Church in Hyde Park and their reception was followed at the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall.
“When I was a child, it was my local church and I was baptized there.
“George and I met at a Texas-themed house party in Clapham, and I didn’t like George at all when I first met him! Fortunately, he convinced me over time and suggested a trip to Scotland after five years. “
“We were engaged a year before our original wedding date, which was then pushed back several times due to Covid.”
“My father led me down the aisle. I am very happy that my brother is an amazing opera singer. When we were forced to cancel the choir and string quartet, he stepped in and saved the day and sang everything for the ceremony. “
“George did a lot of research before getting my engagement ring from Arlington & Co in Hatton Garden, and we went back to get our wedding rings. Customer service was wonderful! “
“Dan, our pastor, was wonderful and worked so hard to make the service very special. We had gone through so much with Dan to get to this point and he supported us throughout the process as government policies kept changing and we felt more and more demoralized. “
“The whole thing felt like a real team effort.”
The couple hired the talented London wedding photographer Maja Tsolo, whose photography we love to share here on Love My Dress.
“I found Maja by scanning tagged photos on Miss Bush’s Instagram account and absolutely loved her style.”
I can’t recommend her more, her photos captured our day perfectly and she was so beautiful like she had another guest with us! “
“Maja is incredibly professional and all communication before and after the wedding was super quick and helpful. I honestly can’t say enough good things about her. “
“I loved every single part of the day, but I think my favorite part of the day was definitely the service. After everything we’d been through, I couldn’t believe we were finally there to get married. “
“The Royal Automobile Club events team is amazing and everything was so well organized that the planning process was really that stress-free.”
“My beautiful mother made our cake – again only three days in advance! It was a Victoria sponge and looked beautiful, topped with flowers the florist had delivered. “
Words of married wisdom
“While a small Covid-safe wedding was never what I wanted or planned, it meant that many of the things I thought were essential were no longer an option for us.”
“As a result, we were able to focus on the important aspects of a wedding, such as a small group of our loved ones and the willingness of everyone to just hold on and have a wonderful celebration.”
“I can wholeheartedly say that despite everything, we had the best day ever and would not change our wedding day for the world. There was something very intimate about only having 30 guests, and everyone felt happy and relieved that we had finally managed to get married! “
“I really think our day was so much more special because of everything we went through to get there. If I can give you any advice, try not to worry about things that you have absolutely no control over – your day will come. I know that many brides in the same situation were unsure whether to wear a large wedding dress for a small celebration. you’re only a bride once so do it! “
Absolutely breathtaking! Listen, ladies, we sincerely cannot recommend a visit to the Miss Bush British bridal boutique. If you are looking for excellent non-intimidating service and a nice selection of bridal wear this is a must.
I want to thank Maja Tsolo for sharing once again her great work on Love My Dress – readers, you can see more of it here.
