Real weddings are so inspiring! To get you in the mood, we asked real brides to share the details about everything from getting engaged to finding their wedding dresses to the special details and surprising moments that made their celebrations unique. Savannah and Nathaniel’s beautiful wedding at a quaint Gainesville, FL bed and breakfast was full of sweet moments and fine details. Read on for more of their intimate and romantic Florida wedding!
How did you and your fiance meet? And when did you know he was the one?
We met through friends and his sister praised my outfit. I was so
happy because she was dressed well and he was standing right next to her! I knew he was the one after our first conversation! We stopped talking about what we are doing for work to what we want in the future. Everything happened so fast. After our first conversation, I looked at my friends and said, “I’m calling Dibs!”.
Tell us your suggestion story!
We had lunch with both families in downtown St. Augustine.
Florida, and we decided to take a walk downtown. I didn’t know this would lead us to the Lightner Museum, and he fell to one knee on the bridge in the middle of the garden. Then my cousin and one of my best friends (who is a photographer) hid in the bushes and recorded the whole thing! After that we all went to the Casa Monica Hotel where we were
enjoyed champagne and desserts. It was one of the best days of my life (besides the wedding!)
How did you both decide on your wedding day?
We went through hundreds of wedding display boards! He was easy! He’s always been good at dressing and always looks great in a suit. I just knew the mood and colors I wanted and we did a lot of research.
How did you know you found someone? And what shopping tips do you have for future brides?
Tears, tears and more tears! As soon as I put the dress on, I couldn’t stop smiling and didn’t want to take it off. My favorite detail was all the buttons that went all the way to the end. I felt so elegant.
If you have the great opportunity to go out with your mom, listen to her! As they say, they are always right. I insisted on a style so much, but stood out every time I put on that style. Then my mother found my dress and said, “Just put it on for a laugh and so I can see it.”
I know that was THE ONE.
Tell us about your wedding day!
Our wedding day was everything I dreamed of! The weather was perfect and the day went smoothly. One of my favorite memories of that day was the first look! Tirzah made it so magical and fun. My first look with my dad still makes me cry when I look at the pictures.
What was your favorite DIY or personal touch?
The whole wedding! Call my aunt Kim who was my wedding coordinator and put it all together. It was a team effort and none of it would have happened without a family. Everything was arranged by them.
Did something funny or unexpected happened?
I forgot the rings! Yes that’s right! I was nervous all day. Nathaniel would forget my wedding ring. In reality I forgot his wedding ring (face)
Palm moment) We just laughed and had to keep going.
Did you have to make changes to your wedding plans because of Covid?
Yes many! We were originally planned for June and postponed to October due to Covid. We were supposed to have 180 guests, but we only had one family. At first I was sad, but I wouldn’t have changed it. I was able to have all the important people in my life there and get Covid to safety! We set up a Zoom video chat so anyone who was originally invited can still be there and watch from home. It was so nice they could see the ceremony, first dance and cake cutting with still the covid precautions.
What’s your best wedding planning advice for brides who are currently planning?
My best advice at these times is to be flexible. If something happens that is not in your hands, it won’t crush everything! Things always
work out. As long as you are married to the great partner you chose at the end of the day, it will be a happy day. Just don’t let the stress lie between the unique experiences.
Any wisdom words for future brides?
This day is about the love between you and your partner! Don’t let that blur between the lines. Weddings are stressful, but you are not alone in this feeling! As long as you pick the right people to help and the right companies, it will work. You also can’t go wrong in choosing David’s bride for your dressing needs.
