Leave it to Balenciaga’s creative director Demna Gvasalia to wow us with his winter ’21 collection. The brand unveiled its look book, photographed by Patrick Welde, for collections with models posing against a blank background and later photographed at monuments from around the world. The collection not only contained a gothic coat version of Princess Diana’s wedding dress (why not?), But also a parody of Gaps logo. Gvasalia revealed Fashion This one look, a black full length coat with balloon sleeves, was inspired by the shape of Princess Diana’s wedding dress.
If you remember, Princess Diana wore a voluminous David Emanuel wedding dress that will go down in history forever. “She’s wearing a t-shirt and jeans underneath,” said Gvasalia of the model in the lookbook. If you’ve always wanted to feel like a king with an edge, this coat is for you. About 90.6 percent of the rest of the collection is sourced from sustainable sources. “When I started this collection,” said Gvasalia Fashion in the same article: “I said, only show myself sustainable fabrics. I don’t want to look at anything else.” Read on to take a look at the coat in question, as well as the rest of the collection.
